  • 1. Data-Driven Climate Action for Cities
    Fri 30th of June 2023 - 09 AM
    On-site workshop with students
    Coordinator: Daniele Santucci - RWTH
The purpose of this Round Table on Data-Driven Climate Action for Cities is to provide an enabling platform for climate activists, industry leaders, policy makers, civil society, researchers, and students to discuss the opportunities (and challenges) to use urban data for climate mitigation and adaptation in cities. In addition, it will provide these stakeholders the opportunity to discuss how to create the environment to enable cooperation between the public and private sector and wider civil society.
  • 2. Taking climate action in higher education seriously
Mon 11th of September 2023 - time (tbc)
    Hybrid Event
Eugenio Morello (POLIMI), Francesco Musco (IUAV), Ceren Sezer (RWTH)
How to prioritize climate urgency in schools of architecture and planning? How to make students and teachers of urban and architectural design aware of the climate urgency and the enormous impact on the transformations of the built environment? The invited speakers, representatives of architecture and planning schools, will discuss effective strategies and tools to spread the values and principles of climate action and make it a priority in all activities related to the transformation of the environment and the territory.
  • 3. Resilience and Cultural Heritage
Fri 27th of September 2023 - time (tbc))
    Online Event
    Coordinator: Christa Reicher - RWTH
Our built heritage is an essential part of our society's collective memory. It is a vital cultural resource often threatened due to its characteristics, such as spatial location and state of preservation. Additionally, built heritage exhibits a significant vulnerability under extreme weather conditions resulting from climate change, including floods and droughts. This roundtable focuses on a new manual, Integrated Risk Management, a local urban planning instrument to guide experts and communities to develop consistent integrative strategies to protect our built heritage from risk. The session brings together practitioners, local authorities, researchers, students from architectural heritage and risk management fields, and civil society to discuss the potential and challenges of the manual's guiding questions.
